“It was a bit late going to air on X because they had a massive cyberattack against their servers,” Ms Storer said.

“Someone didn’t want this conversation going live.”

President-elect Donald Trump defeated the Democrats roundly with his argument that the United States needed a major shakeup. This election will go down in history as a “realigning election,” argues historian Geoff Kabaservice, director of policy studies at the Niskanen Center in Washington, DC.

Kabaservice tells host Steve Clemons that Americans are turning their back on “the establishment” from top to bottom: the media, bureaucracy, elite universities and celebrity culture. So does this mean the end of the “Washington consensus,” where both parties agreed on almost everything: trade, alliances, immigration, etc? Will Trumpism define the US for years to come?

Elon Musk has denied claims that he is leading a “hostile takeover” of the United States government, during an extraordinary joint press conference held with President Trump at the White House.

Musk, the billionaire technology entrepreneur, mounted a defence of his work leading the newly formed Department of Government Efficiency (Doge), taking questions from the US media for the first time since Trump’s inauguration.

“The people voted for major government reform and that’s what the people are going to get,” he said, wearing a black Make America Great Again cap. “That’s what democracy is all about.”

Musk, who was appointed by Trump to lead the cost-cutting department rather than being elected for the role, described the “unelected” bureaucracy as subverting the “will of the people”.

In the first few weeks of Trump’s presidency, Musk has led an effort to dismantle federal agencies, buying out hundreds of thousands of workers from their jobs. He said he was talking to the president “almost every day” to make sure his team is following his wishes.

Donald Trump has boldly claimed he is 'not joking' about running for a third term in the White House, as he admitted 'there are methods' he could use to retain power.

Donald Trump has said he is “not joking” about seeking a third term as president, a move that would defy the US constitution.

Trump, who was elected for his first term in 2016 and his second in 2024, said there are “methods” – if not “plans” – to circumvent the constitutional limit designed to prevent dictatorships in the US.

His comments come following several statements suggesting he could seek to scrap the two-term limit by which every president since 1951 has abided by.

Asked by NBC if his comments were merely a joke, Trump said they weren’t and added: “There are methods which you could do it. There are plans."

As the country faces down a possible continuation of the 'Trump era', John Bolton, the President's former National Security Advisor, sits down with Andrew Marr to give his predictions.

Two special elections in Florida on Tuesday could affect the balance of power in the U.S. House of Representatives. Republicans currently hold a 218-213 majority.
Both special elections are in districts that Republican lawmakers vacated and where Republicans outnumber Democrats by a 2-1 margin.
Democrats spent large amounts of money to try to flip the seats, and that financial advantage has some Republicans worried about Tuesday’s outcome.

Elon Musk has been made head of a new "Department of Government Efficiency" by Donald Trump, the latest appointment to the president-elect's emerging team.

Trump says the billionaire businessman will co-lead the organisation with former Republican primary candidate Vivek Ramaswamy.

The department will "provide advice and guidance from outside of government" to "dismantle government bureaucracy" and cut spending. But it is not yet fully clear what form it will take.

Trump has also picked Fox News host and Army veteran Pete Hegseth to be defence secretary, and John Ratcliffe as his director of national intelligence.
